Tattoo Removal FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Tattoo Removal

Question: Isn’t laser tattoo removal really expensive?

Answer: Not at Black Sword Alliance. We are not a big medical clinic that offers many procedures with lots of employees and high overhead.

Question: How does laser tattoo removal work?

Answer: Laser tattoo removal works by focusing laser energy to break up the pigment/color in your tattoo.  Our laser is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser used exclusively for tattoo removal – making it the very best laser to use for your procedure.

We can remove a wide range of colors in tattoos and permanent makeup.  Our laser uses two separate wavelengths of light to remove darker (black, purple, blue, brown) and lighter (red, green, yellow, orange) tattoo pigment.  The laser needs only a fraction of a second to break down the pigment allowing your treatment to be completed in only a short time. Lighter blues and greens can be more difficult to remove.

Question: What kind of tattoos can you remove?

Answer: We can remove nearly any tattoo. We’ve helped clients with a very wide range of tattoos.

•Rings – symbols, words, bands worn under rings or jewelry

•Designs – hearts, characters, animals, flowers, tribal art, barbed wire, ….thousands more

•Portions of tattoos – we can remove sections of a tattoo that you no longer want

•Sleeves/large artwork

Question: Does laser tattoo removal leave scars?

Answer: While there is some risk of scarring, generally the risk is very very low if you follow the aftercare instructions. Tattoo removal lasers do not penetrate the deeper layers of skin, making scarring very rare and enabling quick healing.

Question: How many sessions will it take to remove my tattoo?

Answer:  The number of treatments depends on the age, color, quality of ink, and technique used to create the tattoo (professional vs. homemade). An average tattoo takes between 6 and 12 sessions.

Question: What are the side effects of laser tattoo removal?

Answer:  Laser tattoo removal is the safest and easiest way to remove an unwanted tattoo.  With today’s technology, we are able to precisely target the ink in your tattoo with minimal side effects.  The laser energy gently passes through the outermost layer of skin until it reach your tattoo’s pigment, and leaves the lower layers untouched.  The skin is very rarely broken, so even pinpoint bleeding is uncommon. You may experience redness and some slight swelling in addition to blisters as the area heals after your procedure.
